TROUBLED British soul singer Amy Winehouse was arrested today on suspicion of possessing drugs, after footage appeared of her apparently smoking crack cocaine.

Winehouse arrives at Holborn Police Station last week to be questioned by police over an assault allegation. She has now been arrested for a second time under drug charges

Scotland Yard said that "around 1pm (11pm AEST) today a 24-year-old woman from the Camden area attended a London police station by arrangement and was arrested in connection with the alleged possession of a controlled drug."

"This is in connection with an investigation connected to footage passed to the Metropolitan Police on January 22."

Winehouse was not named, in line with force policy, but a spokesman for the singer said: "Amy Winehouse voluntarily attended a London police station today by appointment.

"She was arrested in order to be interviewed and is co-operating fully with inquiries. The interview relates to a video handed to police earlier this year."

Scotland Yard said later she was released on bail.

The video footage obtained by The Sun tabloid apparently showed Winehouse, who has fought a very public battle against drink, drugs, eating disorders and self-harm, inhaling fumes from a crack pipe.

She was also shown apparently snorting ecstasy and cocaine.

The Grammy award winner was previously arrested on April 25 and spent a night in police cells for slapping a man during a booze-filled night out in north London.

She received a police caution and apologised.

Winehouse's husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, 25, is on remand in prison awaiting trial on charges of assault and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

Scotland Yard said later she was released on bail.

Winehouse, whose battle against drug addiction has often overshadowed her recording success, is said to be worth an estimated £10 million ($20 million) in the latest Sunday Times Rich List.

The Sun posted this video over the weekend of Amy Winehouse smoking a “cannibis cigarette”, while stumbling around at a party over the weekend.

The troubled singer was seen snorting powdery white substances, said to be ecstasy and cocaine.

The Sun says: The tormented singing sensation took hit after hit of the deadly drug after a 19-minute binge in which she snorted powdered ECSTASY and COCAINE.

And she admitted she had just popped six VALIUM pills to “bring myself down”.

Today, AMY WINEHOUSE's representative has denied reports the singer has been arrested over allegations of assault - insisting the star is "voluntarily" helping police with their enquiries.

The Rehab hitmaker is alleged to have headbutted a man while drinking in The Good Mixer public house in Camden, north London in the early hours of Wednesday (23Apr08).

She has also been accused of hitting Moroccan musician Mustapha el Mounmi, after he refused to give way to her at a snooker table.

The alleged victim reportedly went to police on Thursday (24Apr08) and reported his claim, prompting the police to take action.

But previous reports claiming the star had been arrested on Friday (25Apr08) over the incident have proved to be false.

A spokesman for the star has revealed she is due to attend Kentish Town police station in North London on Friday to be quizzed by cops about the case, but will be attending of her own free will.

The representative says, "Amy Winehouse will be voluntarily attending a London police station today by appointment with the police.

"We understand that she will be questioned in connection with an alleged incident in Camden in the early hours of April 23 2008."

Meanwhile, Winehouse's representatives have also been forced to clear the singer's name in another incident, which occurred during a night out on Thursday.

The star began her evening at her regular haunt The Good Mixer, before moving on to the Made In Brazil bar.

But the 24-year-old ended the night by being forcibly removed from the venue, with reports claiming she was ejected after being caught taking drugs in the toilet.

A bar employee tells the U.K.'s Sky News, "She was in here last night. She went to the toilets and was gone a long time. When a member of staff went in there they found her in the cubicle with someone and they suspected she was taking drugs.

"We had no choice but to ask her to leave and she was taken outside. We don't allow drug taking in this establishment."

But Winehouse's spokesman has hit back at the claims, confirming the star was thrown out of the Made In Brazil bar, but denying she was taking drugs.

Chaotic Amy visited husband Blake in jail yesterday, but she looked far from her best, and appears to be constantly pushed for time, hence her use of the car as a mobile changing room.

But the talented singer appears to have plenty of people keen to offer her support - including singer turned photographer Bryan Adams.

Amy has been invited to spend a "rock family" Christmas at the singer's Caribbean villa.

Bryan, 48, wants to get the star away from her drink and drugs problems and has offered to fly her to his home on the private island of Mustique.

He has offered to spend Christmas Day with the star - and there is even a rumour that rock legend Mick Jagger, who also has a house on the island, could pop over.

Earlier this week the troubled star was seen passed out in a car following her arrest over an alleged £200,000 plot to fix her husband's assault trial.

Amy was seen slumped in the back of a people carrier as she was taken home by a friend after being questioned by police.
